Stutman Law’s client insured the owner of a residential property that had been leased to a tenant. After
the property was damaged by fire, Stutman Law coordinated an origin and cause investigation and
evidence inspection. Stutman’s experts thoroughly examined the tenant’s space heater, heating pad,
power strip and other electrical items located within the area of the fire’s origin. Stutman’s experts opined
that the fire likely resulted from mechanical damage to a cord associated with the tenant’s heating pad.
Stutman Law demanded payment from the tenant’s insurer, and the tenant’s insurer ultimately settled
pre-suit for 100% of the claim.
