On September 6, 2020, a wildfire started near the Cogswell Reservoir/Dam and consumed 115,796 acres of land before the fire was contained. Investigation determined that the wildfire was caused by California Edison’s failure to maintain proper clearance between its energized conductors and the surrounding vegetation. As such, litigation against Southern California Edison Company was initiated on February 2, 2022, in the Superior Court of the State of California, County of Los Angeles, Central District. This litigation is currently in the discovery phase.
