Holiday Farm Wildfire

On September 7, 2020, a wildfire started near the McKenzie River in Lane County, along Oregon Highway 126 at or around Mileposts 47 and 43.5 and consumed 173,393 acres of land before the fire was contained. Through investigation, it was determined that the wildfire was caused by Eugene Water & Electric Board and Lane Electric Cooperative, Inc. and Bonneville Power, a US government agency, failing to ensure the lines were properly maintained and deenergized during a dangerous wind event in fire season. As such, litigation against Eugene Water & Electric Board dba EWEB and Lane Electric Cooperative, Inc. was initiated on September 1, 2022, in the Circuit Court of the State of Oregon for the County of Lane. At the same time, a claim was also filed with the US Corps of Engineers against Bonneville Power. This litigation is currently in the discovery phase.
